This episode reminded me of a major theme in our seminars over the last two months: the desire to have a diagnosis, why that is, and where that leads people post diagnosis. Listen to the emotion as she recalls her experience of having the doctor tell her the name of what he calls the disease. In one sense, the name is completely arbitrary and meaningless, but to her it’s a life changing moment. A name for what she experiences means she can separate herself from the symptoms; they are hers but no longer her, you might say. I also picked up that she was able to release a lot of shame about her experiences due to the diagnosis. Anyways, check it out!
